GUIDELINE FOR SURVEYORS’ BENEVOLENT FUND

The guidelines are as follows:

1.       BYELAWS

1.1.    Byelaw 19(3)

Council shall be empowered to credit five (5) percent of the annual subscription to the Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund upon payment of a member’s annual subscription.

1.2.    Byelaw 20(40(b)

Council shall be empowered to credit five (5) percent of the donation of RM3,000.00 to the Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund.

 

2.       OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Surveyors’ Benevolent Fund:

·         To provide relief to persons who are incapacitated by or suffering from terminal illness, age, accident or other infirmity (whether bodily or mental).

·         To provide assistance for bereavement.

·         To provide any other assistance which the Committee deems appropriate.

 

3.       BENEFICIARIES

The persons qualified to receive such relief shall be:

a)      Present members of RISM

b)      Immediate families of present members of RISM; or

c)       Upon death, next of kin (in the event of doubt, to be appointed by the family members)

 

4.       DISBURSEMENT OF BENEVOLENT FUND

4.1.    Upon information received on the bereavement of the member, RISM Secretariat will prepare necessary documentation for the disbursement of funds to the next of kin; or

4.2.    A formal application must be submitted within 6 months to the Institution providing for the disbursement of funds.

 

5.       QUANTUM OF AWARD

5.1.    Loss of Capabilities – Major Illness and Death

a.          For major illness, a Lump Sum donation not exceeding RM1,500.00.

b.         The purchase of flowers or fruit basket not exceeding RM200.00.

c.          In the event of death, a lump sum donation not exceeding RM3,000.00 will be donated to the next of kin.

d.         Subsequent assistance is at the discretion of the Committee.

 

6.       PROCEDURES

6.1.    Recipient to sign the Acknowledgement Slip upon receipt of the funds for record purposes.
